If you get cold sores, and wish to hide them, you should…

In some circles (and squares) my nickname is the Queen of Cold Sores, which while “flattering” is probably not my most favourite nickname. (I prefer King of Sportz and Princess of Reverse Parks.) Here’s one reason why: I know how to perfectly disguise them.

L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival + Rae Morris =…

I’m down in Melbawesome! Wheeeeee! I do so love this city. Love Brizland too, especially when I get to do sweet David Jones instores there for the Look Book and have delightful girls wearing incredible lipstick and taupe nail polish come along and be interested in whatever dribble falls from my mouth. But back to Victoria. I’m down here for L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, which, if you live down here, is worth trying to get along to see, mostly because the hair and makeup have been created by some of the (literally) finest in the biz. ... more

Australian female celebrities give good hair

I noticed this today when I looked at them red rugging at the David Jones A/W ‘10 season launch. We’ve got some real hair queens on our hands! We do! And I think it’s terrific. Let’s all look and be a little bit inspired. Or at least interested. But not incinerated. Too hot.... more

Golden Globes: Mad Men’s January Jones (meh)…

As I mentioned on my post about Miss ROSE BYRNE, I am not the biggest fan of headwear. And despite the fact she is one of my most beloved TV characters and Real Life beauty inspirations, Miss JANUARY JONES proves a little bit why with her Golden Globes head band. But, that said, high-fives to her for being experimental - she could’ve easily gone traditional Grace Kelly-style glamour, because her face lends itself so easily to that sort of look, but she went risky, and I applaud that. Her co-star, Miss CHRISTINA HENDRICKS, on the other hand, went textbook VIXEN and oh man, she just makes me want to scrub off all my fake tan, swipe on some blood red lips, dye my hair burgundy and wear the most obnoxious push up bra known to man.... more

When you wake up tomorrow morning, may I suggest you:…

1. Smile and leap out of bed.

2. Put on a ‘Happy Song’. May I recommend All I Want for Christmas, by one M. Carey? I may? Many thanks. Here it is for those who don’t have Xtremely Xcellent Xmas Songs ‘95.... more

Goodness me, Leighton Meester. You look a little bit…

Perhaps Miss MEESTER is really feeling the whole Twilight thing, or perhaps she, like RIHANNA, so loved all the ‘80s fashion and makeup the AW 09 shows brought with it, that despite the fact the SS 10 shows have already been and gone, she rather liked the whole theatrical, strong eyes-and-lips business from the previous season, and wants to enjoy it a little longer thank you very much. Either way, HOLY HARD-EDGED LIP LINING THAT IS A LOT OF MAKEUP.... more

First Look: Red lips and fierce film noir glamour at…

Ah, Dior. Injecting some much-needed elegance and glamour to a season that has very much relied on either A) bare and casual and natural, or B) vibrant and playful. All red lips and Veronica Lake curls and deep-side parts and shades of film noir mistresses, the Christian Dior ss10 beauty look is by no means original, but oh, isn’t it beautiful.... more

New York Fashion Week: The renegades of Fashion’s…

Oh, how we LOVE when the famous people come out to play at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. Sometimes it’s at the actual shows, posing and pouting front row, sometimes it’s backstage or around Bryant Park and sometimes it’s off site at special fashiony parties. Like the Fashion’s Night Out one, created by one Anna Wintour, and celebrated all over the world at important fashion locations. (Surprisingly Big W didn’t make the cut.)... more

Two ladies; two styles of red lip: Which do you like…

There is a huge spectrum of Red Lip, ranging from gently-bitten stains through to full, rich, vibrant, fire engine red lipsticks, and with lots of red glosses and mattes and so on in between. Right now, and especially when I was on holiday (Oh, did I mention I went to Greece? Only 257 times? Oh, so I did. Carry on) I am doing the long-last red liquid lipstick (Revlon Colorstay Liquid Lipstick in Tomato) with several kilos of bronzer (either CoverGirl, Clinique, Lancome or La Prairie. Yeah, uh, I’m a little greedy when it comes to bronzers right now. But they’re all different! Give different looks and effects!)... more

Time to review that Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid…

You may remember a few weeks ago when I posted a blog (as opposed to a letterbomb - far less explosive) asking if anyone would like to test and review the new Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick? Well, the time has come when I now ask the lucky little crumpets who won the good gear to come forward and post their review.... more
