Kit Willow’s collection was based on creatures in the forest, and was probably one of the most spectacular installations (fashion speak for ‘the models are not on a runway’) I’ve had the privilege of seeing. Her last one, staged at the same colossal, gothic-style, utterly harbourside mansion in Darling Point, was equally impressive, featuring blunt-black-wigged, red-lipped models wearing masks in Willow lingerie, posed around different rooms in the house with riding whips, or plates of grapes being fed to to them by another lingerie-clad lass, and so on. ... more

Why? Because it is smart. Smarter than a packet of smarties being eaten by a nuclear physicist. It’s not the only clever eye shadow kit out there, though, not by a long shot. Not sure if you’ve noticed, but eye shadows have become a lot smarter of recent times. Clearly they’ve been eating lots of fish and doing their homework instead of watching The Hills. I mean, some talk you through application (Stila), some are tailored to your eye colour (Almay) and some will even do your tax (Fictional).... more

But I do now. Thanks to Sharon “Organic” McGlinchey and Ere “Natural” Perez. If these two were forced to face each other in a boxing match Sharon would wear white, Ere would wear green, Sharon would squirt organic anti-oxidant rich cleansing oil into Ere’s face and Ere would poke Sharon in the eye with a jojoba oil eye pencil. But of course this would never happen, because obviously they prohibit using anything other than fists in boxing. Haha! No, it would never happen because these two would rather have a cup of green tea and a vegan muffin than dish out high-speed flying kicks.... more

The spring shows seems to be very much about polar opposites. For every bright cobalt blue ruffled mini or canary yellow swimsuit sashaying down the runway there’ll be a muted beige shift dress and loose-fitting nude jacket. Ditto with the makeup. And at Burberry, we were very much back in nude territory.... more

Nudes, naturals and beige have been overwhelmingly present at both New York and London spring/summer 09 collections. Both in the fashion, and the beauty. (They’re inseparable, those two.) Thankfully, this is one of those trends that is easy as to pull off, no matter your skin, hair or eye colour. ... more

Makeup artist tricks are generally the best and most cleverest of them all. Which is why when I hear them, I like to pass them on. Immediately. And sometimes, sometimes I don’t even thieve the credit for them! (But this one I will, because I read the tip in an American magazine, and didn’t write down the makeup artist’s name. Sorry, nameless makeup artist. I do not mean to steal your cleverness. Much.)... more
