If Celebrities Ruled the Earth

What Holly Madison looked like pre-...

I don’t usually “do” organic, vegan beauty….

But I do now. Thanks to Sharon “Organic” McGlinchey and Ere “Natural” Perez. If these two were forced to face each other in a boxing match Sharon would wear white, Ere would wear green, Sharon would squirt organic anti-oxidant rich cleansing oil into Ere’s face and Ere would poke Sharon in the eye with a jojoba oil eye pencil. But of course this would never happen, because obviously they prohibit using anything other than fists in boxing. Haha! No, it would never happen because these two would rather have a cup of green tea and a vegan muffin than dish out high-speed flying kicks.

They both have extensive websites that are worth sniffing around, but here are some of the reasons I want to give them some press:

Sharon

1. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Sam Sparro are fans of both her products, but especially her famed facials. Click here to see where she performs said facial, but the place I had mine is Skin by Scott and Sullivan, which was fortunate because it is in the achingly hip Ivy complex, and I think (Kaye) Scott and (Lisa) Sullivan are all kinds of awesome. (They also run The Clinic in Bondi Junction.)

2. Her Gentle Cleansing Creme is so very soft, and so gentle and smells like a rose garden, which is why I now use it twice daily.
3. She taught me this great skincare advice, which I now tell everyone who will listen and possibly pretend I came up with: ‘Skincare penetrates so much better when your skin is damp.” She has a rosewater spritz that caters to this, and you may recall me going on about La Mer’s Hydrating Infusion, which exists for the same purpose. Think of a sponge - you must pre-wet it before your cleaning agent will take to the sponge. Your skin is the same. Only with less benchtops and Ajax.
4. She is kind of a superstar in both the facial and the organic skincare realm, and oddly is more famous in the UK than here. Might be because the Brits are ahead of us in terms of embracing the organic movement (not just in skincare, but across the board.)
4. Organic skincare is often written off as “ineffective.” This is about as true as the falsiest false lash in false town. Sharon’s Daily Skin Soother skin booster calms, nourishes and sorts out dry, itchy and sensitised skin conditions including eczema and dermatitis. If you know someone with these skin problems, be a darl and tell them about Shaz, wouldya?

Ere Perez

1. A beauty editor friend of mine swears by and has sworn by for many years, Ere’s Natural Almond Oil Mascara, which is the only mascara available to my knowledge that people with very sensitive eyes can wear. This is because it never uses any harsh words, never teases and.... ok, that’s a shit joke. Sorry. The reason is because it’s formulated with organic almond oil and beeswax and has no chemicals whatsoever. Huzzah!
2. Ere does vegan makeup, which as any vegan will tell you, is a bit of a bitch to find. I’m personally a fan of the Natural Rosehip Oil Lipbar in Love, $19.95, which has received several kilos of press lately probably because it has SPF 15, is enriched with Vitamin E and with rosehip oil (which you guys know I ADORE and would eat on toast if I could). The sheer petal pink tint is perfect for smoky eyes, or a pretty spring look.
3. Her tinted rice powders (Rice! Now not just for dinner!) are perfect for sensitive skins (they are mineral makeup… and then some) as they’re free from harmful chemicals and 100% cruelty free and vegan.
4. Ere lives around the corner from me and is Mexican Australian, so there is a small chance she will invite me over for fajitas or some Salsa dancing one day, both of which are activities I enjoy.

I am not vegan or even that organic but that lip tint sounds like gold. Does it dry at all? I always struggle to find one that doesn’t dry out my lips.
