Millionaire Vs Nillionaire: Root lift/body-boosting sprays

- Millionaire Vs Nillionaire
There is no excuse for hair without body anymore. Sorry. There isn’t. And I can say this because I have fine, curly hair that soaks up humidity and transforms it into frizz with great speed and efficiency which means I immediately take home and test any root-lifting, volume building hair products that saunter in to the office, so believe me, I KNOW you can get body. I’ve done it! Seen the results! Flicked and swished around like a TV-shampoo ad girl with body and bounce!
I am particularly excited because the new volume range I tried on the weekend, when I urgently needed vampy, wild, huge hair for my Whore-o-ween outfit but no time for a professional job, was an absolute triumph, and guess what, IT IS IN THE NILLIONAIRE CATEGORY!
But first, those helicopter-flying, Lake Como house-owning, Krug for breakfast, millionaires…
MILLIONAIRE: Redken 5th Avenue Body Full Weight Lifter, $26

Good things: I have had a longstanding love affair with the Redken Body Full Weight Lifter root spray, which began a few years back when my hair had been ionically straightened and was flat to the power of 10. Really, this stuff is quite magical. If I was a little girl and I saw a woman’s hair with this stuff in it, compared to without it, I would drop my jaw and call her a filthy wizard before retreating to my room to hide under the bed. Or something equally dramatic. I flip my head upside down and really get in there with that nozzle, all over. I go easier on the crown area, but still definitely spramp it all through there. What’s great about this, is that once you’ve blow-dried your hair (get smart if you want volume and use a large, barrel brush and pull the hair up and out as you style it) you don’t get that gritty feeling some root-lift products leave you with. Just soft and shiny hair that bounces gloriously around your head, because it has someone now got all this air at the roots. It’s a serious root booster and it is mildly addictive. Everything starts to seem so… flat without it.
Be mindful that: I find with Redken, they’re not actually lying when they say ‘For best results, use Body Full shampoo and Conditioner first,” which they may not actually say, but something along those lines. Anyway. Point is you definitely get better results with these products is you use them all in conjunction. Especially by combining the Weight Lifter with the leave-in treatment, Plump Treat. (Doesn’t that sound like it should be the name of a cake? I reckon it would be duuuulicious.)
NILLIONAIRE: TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Sculpting Spray Gel, $7.95

Good things: Oh, where to begin. When we went to the launch of this last week, Joh Bailey showed us with a model how this spray gel was totally unreal because it gave incredible lift, body and volume, but was a GEL. And we all know they are mostly intended for slick styling and are, be definition, heavy, thick and set the hair. But this is definitely a gel, and it definitely does not leave the hair feeling anything other than high, fat and swishy. I applied it to freshly-washed hair, all over, with some of my usual thermal protector creme from the mid-lengths to the ends (this was the “constant” of the test, because I always use this gear) and then blow-dried. And I don’t know what they’ve made here, but not only did my blow dry seem to be VERY fast and VERY easy, the lift at the roots was extremely obvious and the hair in general had this wonderful salon-style movement. I had Cindy Crawford hair. No shit. I finished with some of the TRESemme 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray and that didn’t have any stickiness or build up either. And! Two days later, still felt and looked like I’d had a Real Life, salon blow dry. It’s hard to explain the feeling, it’s like your hair bounces around you, I guess is the best way to describe it. EPIC. VOLUME. WIN. And, it smells real nice, too. (And I promise TRESemme did NOT pay me for this post. Oh come on, Yen don’t count.)
Be mindful that: I actually can’t think of a thing. Like Redken, I’m sure if you use the entire 24 Hour Body range, from shampoo right through, (there is a root lift spray, but I felt the spray gel obliterated the need for it, to be honest) I was so excited with the results of this I wanted to email the PR. On a Saturday. Or Tweet it. But I couldn’t remember if it was on sale yet. Turns out it was! How about that. Why are you still reading this? Go buy it already.
