Some products I’ve been telling my friends about conversationally.
Which is a convoluted way of saying they have made an impact. Which is a convoluted way of saying they’re good. Which is a convoluted way of saying maybe check them out.
First up, from the SK-II Skin Signature 3D Redefining Mask, $180 for six, AKA the New Big Thing from SK-II. This new firming, anti-sag mask promises to make you look like Cate Blanchett after only one application. Haha! Of course, I jest - it’s the Skin Signature moisturiser that does that.

Is this for you? Yes, if you’ve noticed your face, and especially your jawline isn’t looking as ‘sharp’ and youthful as it used to. I hate to use the word ‘droop’ but it appears I just did, so there you go. This mask (sister to my favourite pre-party cloth mask, the SK-II facial treatment mask) consists of two separate sheets (it might be worth mentioning here that this mask replaces their old Signs Dual Treatment Mask), which is important because the skin on your face is not uniform all over. (La Mer also has a split face mask for this reason.)
Ysee, the top half focuses on wrinkles and lines, which are more prevalent around the eyes and forehead, while the bottom sheet focuses on firmness and lifting the skin around the mouth and jaw. Makes sense. Face not same top to bottom. Also, it ensures a really precise fit all over the face. Clever!
(Fun fact: This ‘split face’ thing is also relevant when people get injectionables - they tighten the top half of their face with Botox, and plump out the bottom half with collagen.)
I used the mask yesterday, even though I don’t yet have sagging, and it made my face GLOW with happiness and hydration, so imagine what it will do to those (probably 40 and over) who are after a bit of firmness and lift for a special occasion, or after a long flight on top of that radiance. Go on. Imagine. It’s pretty isn’t it?
Next up, a trio of little ‘do-it-all’ balms that were all so cool (and so petroleum free) I wanted to feature them all. I’ve noticed a bit of an influx in these ‘everything’ balms at the moment, which is fine by me, because the more multi-purpose the product, the lighter my handbag, and the happier I am. (This is also the basis behind why I recently had a treadmill installed into my car.)
Here they are:
Jurlique Love Balm, $15 (bio dynamic ingredients including Vitamin E, Olive, Soybean and Safflower Oil, duuulicious tangerine scent, wee little pocket sized tin)
Best for: On the go dry-skin-fixing.

Molton Brown Body Therapies desert bloom ultrabalm, $55 (massively best-selling in the US and UK, handy little tube, smells like a posh, indulgent day spa, uses rare and impressivey plant and sap extracts to soften, comfort, hydrate soothe and boost skin condition)
Best for: Travel. The formula, being more liquid than the other two and in a tube, is also excellent for sharing without other grubby paws dipping in to your goods.

QED intense repair everywhere balm, $24.95 (new Aussie brand, comes in a variety of scents, decent-sized tin and no-nasty approach that I think all the baby mamas will especially appreciate, has QED’s wrinkle rewind skin repair serum - camellia oil, evening primrose oil, rosehip oil, vitamin e oil - within)
Best for: Around the house.

They all do the same thing: they soothe and hydrate and nourish and protect dry skin, be that on your little snowboardy nose, or your heels or your cuticles or the corners of your mouth or lips or your baby’s botbot or your knees or elbows or dry hands or wherever, man! They don’t have names like ‘everywhere’ for no reason.
Sniff them out, I think you’ll fall in love with any one of the three. (FYI, Trilogy also has a balm, then there is of course Egyptian magic and Paw Paw cream and MAC even just released one as part of their honey collection and oh, I mustn’t forget the one by ... etc to fade)
Do you have an ‘everything’ balm you use?
Which one is it? Why?

Oh, the Molton Brown one looks gorgeous. Does it work as a lipbalm or is it more of a skin cream? I love Trilogy’s and Egyptian Magic as well. Yay for balms. :)

Badger Balm is my go-to, I keep it on my desk at work and massage it into my cuticles when my boss isn’t looking. I might try the love balm though, I’m still annoyed I didn’t get the MAC naked honey salve.

My everything balm is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream in the cute little vintage pot. Keen on the Jurlique balm though...should be perfect for travelling.

I love these everything balms, especially in winter where everything just gets so dry! You sure can’t beat Paw Paw for it’s price, convenient tubes/tubs and smell.
