Kelly Osbourne proves shiny blonde hair isn’t an oxymoron

I think Miss KELLY OSBOURNE looks fantastic. Glamorous, sexy, chic but still with a twinkle of, ‘Piss me off and I’ll box your ears in.’ Which is genuine Kelly, the real Kelly, the mouthy little brat who no matter which designer she’s wearing or how fabulous her false lashes are, will give you a right serve if you tread on her Jimmy Choos.
Here is Kelly at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party, looking like a vampish, sultry little elf:

I think that eye liner and those lashes are a triumph. Love how the liner is perfectly sitting in the waterline (her makeup artist would’ve used a thin brush and a powder shadow or a powder liner to get that effect, not gel liner, and not a kohl pencil) and that the lashes are fanned out, rather than going directly up. Creates a feline, elongated look. Sexy-sexy. Try it next time you have false lashes applied.
And the hair! What a gorgeously retro (and yet very modern and fresh) take on the pixie. Very different to Posh’s version - Kelly’s is much more sexy Julius Caesar.
If you have platinum hair, I imagine you look at this image and think, ‘Golly. How on earth does she keep it so not brassy, so perfectly ashy and how, HOW does she get so much shine when blonde hair has ZERO pigment, and is incredibly hard to make shiny?’
Here’s a few tips:
Counter brassiness with a blue/violet conditioner a few times a week. These are easy to find and definitely worth buying. Be very careful, and follow the instructions, or you risk going that murky grey/purple colour that girls with really dead, lank blonde hair sometimes have, and which makes me whimper.
Keep your hair in REALLY good condition. (Please refer to that whole ‘no pigment in bleached hair’ statement above.) This means weekly masks and always, always protecting it before styling it. A good way to hit two fences with one stone (I refuse to advocate the violence of birds) is with a product like Pantene Pro-V Colour Therapy Leave-In Conditioning Spray which will protect your colour from fading and damage from blow dryers and irons, and also condition it nicely.
Use a pomade or styling wax with a high shine factor. Leave the putty and the matte styling clays to the kids who don’t care for shine, and are more interested in a second-day-hair appeal.
Blow dry the hair straight down. This is one of the TV campaign tricks hair stylists use to get that insanely shiny TV ad hair - means the cuticle on the hairs are uniform and all facing down, giving the best possible chance of light reflection and shine.
Finish with a shine-enhancing spray all over. (Different to hair spray - there’s no hold, it’s purely for lustre.) There ain’t no way Kelly Osbourne’s hair got that shiny and dance-in-the-lighty without a good spray of finishing spray.
Be rich and famous and stuff and have your colourist come in to do your roots and toner once a week. (Optional.)
