FOUND: A way to prevent boob wrinkles! (I love being able to write boob in a heading.)

Remember a few weeks back when I wrote that article about boob wrinkles and we all got terrified and ultra-aware of those fine lines on our chest from sleeping on our sides at night? Of course you do, it’s kind of ruined your life a little bit, hasn’t it. Apologies. Sure has made me SUPER aware of protecting and nourishing my decolletage. Even trying to sleep on my back and stuff. But then I got sent this funny little pad and everything changed.

It’s called the Décolleté Pad,and I actually think one of you alerted me to it in your comments, half as a bit of a laugh. But this is no laughing matter. This is seriously effective boob wrinkle prevention right here. In the shape of a thick, silicon pad that sits kind of at the top of your cleavage and up over your chest. It’s clear and sticky and you pop it on before bed and unless you sweat through the night, it’s still there in the morning. (I made sure any fake tan or body lotion was applied about an hour before I put it on to prevent slip.) The pad is made from 100 per cent medical-grade silicone, (read: no irritating urethanes, latex or adhesives for the sensitive ladies) and I found it be quite comfy. Doesn’t hurt to pull off, like a bandaid, not at all, it’s more like one big Party Feet… foot? The pad lasts for for up to two months and you can wash it and re-use it. And the sticky stays sticky.

The person who made the pad - Emmy-award-winning Hollywood make-up artist Camille Calvet - claims that it “Removes unsightly and aging décolletage wrinkles overnight. The pad is designed to correct and prevent damage to skin in the delicate chest area (décolletage), damage caused by lying on the side while sleeping, sun damage, ageing of the skin and gravity.”

And guess what. Uh, it DOES! I’ve been wearing the pad for almost two weeks, and when I peel it off in the morning, none of those little snaky lines I used to see are there. I can actually see at the top of the pad, where they begin again. (The need to maybe make the pad a little bigger?)

Here’s how it looks.... (Uh, not on me.)

And here’s a before and after from the website (I could never have come up with such catchy copy):

Now, I’m not sure yet if this effect will extend long-term, but if the wrinkles aren’t allowed to form through the night (because the pad keeps everything in place and there is no skin fold action) and you wear this all the time, you can’t help but to be doing good things for your decolletage. My first thought was, ‘Goodness, I wish I had started wearing this when I was 18.’ My second was, ‘This looks kind of creepy sitting on my bedside table.’ But it’s worth it.

Just back to the silicone for a second, the use of silicone is relevant because it’s effective in the healing of scar tissue, something Calvet realised when she was doing Hollywood makeup, including prosthetic mould making, and came to learn that silicone can prevent chest muscles and skin from forming creases while sleeping. And boom, there was her multi-million clam idea. (We’ve all got one, by the way. Mine’s home-delivery pancakes. Don’t steal it.)

I risk sounding like I’ve been paid to write this if I write anything more, so suffice to say I’m hooked, it’s a brilliant idea and my chest is happy and my skin smooth. The pad costs $55 and you can get it from the www.skinvigor8.com.au

Are you a little bit intrigued? Think you might try it?

OMG when do these boob crags appear? I’m kinda freaked by those pics. I’m 33 and no sign of them yet (spending most of my 20s in Scotland where skin was lucky to see 5 days of sunshine a year may have its advantages) but will they just pop uo one day and say “hellllloooo”?

Ooooooooh yes please. Although I don’t know how my man will cope with “not tonight dear I’ve just put my boob wrinkle pad on”!

Does the sticky surface remove your fake tan, even just a little, so that it is noticeable where the “pad” was?

Actually, there is probably no need to ask that question. I can’t see you getting around with a white blob on your chest Zoe!

Oh I’ll so be getting one of these - I’ve not got boob wrinkles yet but as a side sleeper with D’s I’m sure they’re on the way!

I’m 20 and so far I haven’t seen any boob wrinkles...but I may just get one as a ‘preventative’ measure. Can’t go getting me boob wrinkles when I’m so antsy about getting wrinkles on my face!
