First Look: Alexander Wang’s Gritty Pretty side braid

Now this is a look I can do. It’s easy, it’s quick to create and it looks very sexy. As you know, currently I favour any hairstyle that sits on one side of the head - whether that is the deep side part and brushed out curls, or the ‘Strong Part’ hair covering one eye, Miranda Kerr look - and this one is one I am absolutely going to tuck into my artillery. Just uh, need a little length is all…

Typical tough pretty Alexander Wang girl. But I love it.
I especially love how dirty and mussed up the hair is. You could pull this off after a swim, a night out, three days of hair that now needs a wash… Just backcomb your roots, side part your hair, tease and pull the fringe/front layers forward, pull all the hair round to one side and loosely braid it. Done. Let’s roll.
Obviously, it helps to have veeeery long hair, because a lot of the appeal comes from the long braid sitting over your shoulder. But let’s all try it out anyway.
(The models would all have extensions. Cheats.)

This is no glamour girl. This is no OTT ‘80s bird. This is no Mad Men pretty. No way, man. (Who is mad.) This is gritty pretty.
Also of note: Those cool brushed-up eyebrows. In a weird ‘uh-oh, now Zoe is going to think she is ahead of the trends’ moment. I started brushing my brows up slightly last week, in lieu of my new love affair with neutral, browns ‘90s eye shadow and makeup. I like it. Makes your face look fresher.
Do you like these braids?

man i wish i could get texture like that in my hair. my hair is dead straight (and i mean dead. straight.) and texture-less, plus it looks better short. oh well! it’s pretty to look at :)

I do love the brushed up brows though. I brush mine up too (not quite as *up* as that), and it really wakes up my face.

It’s ok, not really one for me. It just looks a tad unkempt, even for summer hair. I mean, there’s free and easy, and then there’s just messy.

I love this look, I’ve been doing it with fishtail plaits for a while now.. mainly because my split ends are out of control and this helps me avoid washing my hair every second day. It’s great for summer.

This is so sad, I love this and of course I chopped my hair off on the weekend. On the brushed-up brow note though, I like unruly brows, I like to do a bit of a brush-up at the start of mine (inner corner?)

Love this look, I think she looks slightly like she’s just had a roll in the hay/800 count Egyptian sheets. Only problem for me is I have shortish hair, so as much as I’d like to try- won’t be able to. Unlucky.

I love it and as a girl with seriously long hair & a boyfriend with a beach house, will be using it way too much.
