A quick bad-hair-day-to-chic-updo hair style I just created accidentally
And I kind of think is pretty cute and ‘40s and chic and would look dulicious with a punchy red lip and some winged liner and a crisp white shirt with an elegant little collar. Kind of Pearl Harbour style. And SO EASY to do. I created it while writing an email and talking on the phone and painting my nails! Really! (Not really. Lie.) Anyway. See what you reckon.
1. Start with bad, but textured hair and a facial expression that suggests frustration. Hair can be dirty, but not lank. Needs to have some volume - I use root lift spray every wash for just this reason. Right now it’s either evo Root Canal Support Spray or Kiehl’s Super Thick Volumizer, sprayed at roots, all over head, when hair is clean and towel-dried.
2. Take the crown area and pull up, leaving some bounce and ‘air’ in the hair.
3. Twist the section gently onto itself and push down onto head lightly. Pin into place with ol’ mate Bobby. It’s not meant to be tight at all. Tight - bridesmaid. Loose - runway.
4. Pull back rest of hair into a pony, and then make into a messy bun. Pull bits out a little so that it looks backcombed. (Of course, if you have a tail comb handy, give your hair a bit of a backcomb all over before starting.) Gently pull squash and manipulate your ‘fringe bun’ so it’s like soft, plump coil. Arrange it so it comes out a little over your face and push down to one side a bit, too. Doesn’t matter it it’s a bit messy - that’s the look, man.
5. Make love to your laptop camera, but in a really bitchy way. Pose saucily. Sauce. I WANT LOTS OF SAUCE.
Cute and vintage or EPIC HAIR FAIL?

Ha ha ha, I was marvelling at your genius Zoe, when my boyfriend looked over my shoulder and said, “That looks ridiculous”. And therein lies the difference between boys and girls. I will be trying this, but perhaps for a girls night out or work ;)

Thanks for the shadow tip Zoe - I too am a green-eyed monster and might trot around the shops this weekend hunting for something equally fabulous. What brush did you use for that liner? It looks so bang on the money precise.

Many thanks! I am wearing: Gorgeous cosmetics shadow in ‘burnt sienna’ shadow applied over lid with soft fluffy brush, then with thin, wet brush as liner. It’s tops cos it’s half plum, half brown - great for green eyes.
