Why eye cream is an investment

Like a good little Primper, you know all about the importance of cleansing, toning and moisturising. You also know that it’s vital for you (and your pillowcase) to remove your makeup before hitting the hay. But how much do you know about eye cream? First of all, they differ from regular facial moisturisers, so if you’re dabbing your day cream under your baby blues, you need to stop! The skin under your eyes is delicate and thin and when you squint or laugh your arse off, little fine lines are going to form. And fine lines are not your friends Primpers. Eye creams are specifically formulated to cater for pesky little problems like this so if you (gasp) don’t have one, you need to get yourself to a chemist/cosmetic counter stat. Here’s why: ... more

How To: Keri Russell’s wavy low side bun

It’s time to shelve your sweaters Primpers, the sunny season is finally here and I can’t wait to rock the beachy low side bun Keri Russell ripped out at the Emmys. Keeping with the romantic craze, the former Felicity star’s ‘do was a little bit Hawaii, a little bit catwalk chic and completely on trend. Her textured, gritty waves were scooped into a low chignon and the look was kept loose and low-slung for an effortless style. Oh, and it takes about 45 seconds to do. Best. Red. Carpet. Hair. Ever. ... more

How To: Catwalk curls – the loose, romantic kind

Spring is right on our doorstep poised to ring the bell Primpers and have I got the most perfect, on-trend, guaranteed-to-get-you-a-few-business-cards-on-Friday-night ‘do for you. Phew! At last week’s Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival, Yaz went behind the scenes and discovered that soft, textured tresses are still in force, and good news Primpers, they’re not shoving off any time soon. We love the no fuss, mussed up look so much here at Primped HQ, that when the models in the Kookai show sported a similar, slightly undone look, I was just delighted. Ecstatic, in fact. Copy this for a look that can only be described as easy elegance. ... more

How To: Get fat, fabulous lashes

Your eyes are the windows to your soul so they better have some fantastic fringing, right Primpers? Every woman I know covets thick, killer lashes and thankfully, getting popping peepers is as easy as booking a blow-dry. And that’s pretty damn easy. All you need are a few products and the know-how, so let’s lift those lashes and frame those bright, Bambi eyes of yours. ... more

How To: Pack your gym bag with beauty stuff

Scenario: Your alarm goes off. You quickly throw some spandex and a few random beauty goodies into your bag and schlep it to the gym. Then post-workout, you discover that you’ve left a Very Important Product at home. And cue tanty. Packing your gym bag with prettifying things doesn’t have to be a chore (or a rush job). All you need are the essentials, and with this stupidly excellent advice, you’ll leave the gym looking fresh quicker than you can say body pump. ... more

How To: MBFF pretty pastel makeup – part two

Well Primpers, Napoleon Perdis has certainly done a smashing job creating makeup looks at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival in Brisbane. So much so, that I just had to show you another of his masterpieces for the pretty pastel makeup trend that’s hijacking catwalks at the moment. Using plum and pink tones, the result is romantic and warm makeup with a hint of drama thanks to the smoky, hazy eye and rosy flushed cheeks. Defo a look you can wear day to night and an absolute stunner for summer. ... more

How To: Work a coloured mani

Push those dark polishes to the back of the cupboard Primpers, warm weather is on the way and it’s high time some colour was splashed across your digits. I love a bold mani, and my nail bed inspiration is Glee sweetheart Dianna Agron, who rocked an eye-catching blue varnish at the 2010 Breakthrough Of The Year Awards. Miss A kept her nails short and neat and the blue hue matched her floral Carolina Herrera dress to perfection. Props to you D for playing with colour. ... more

How To: Angelina Jolie’s dewy skin/smoky eye combo…

Miss Jolie’s film Salt is taking her all over the place and I just want to give her makeup artist a sloppy kiss and the pay rise she deserves. It’s been aaaaages since Angie mixed up her makeup and I’m loving it Primpers. From red lips in Russia to a barely there look in LA, the mum of six stepped out in London wearing a silver frock, blow-dried locks and a smoky eye with false lashes. Hurrah! Her skin was dewy and flawless, her lips nude and glossy and her eyes were nothing but high drama. My favourite by far, the Oscar-winner’s glam factor is off the Richter. ... more

How To: MBFF pretty pastel makeup

The fashion frenzy has well and truly begun and let me tell you, I’m loving the catwalk makeup Primpers. At the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival in Brisbane last week, makeup maestro Napoleon Perdis created a look for the Sunday Mail Show that was soft, pretty and slightly edgy at the same time. Pairing a fresh face with citrus shades and a statement cheek is makeup fusion at its finest. And let’s face it, who doesn’t love playing with colour? ... more

How To: Myer’s gold rush runway makeup

I love this time of year Primpers. I countdown the days before the Spring/Summer Collections walk-off between Myer and DJ’s, and as usual, I wasn’t disappointed. It was a battle between the clothes, the celeb models and the makeup. Recruiting ridiculously amazing makeup artist Alex Box (she’s the Creative Director for cult makeup brand Illamasqua), Myer’s models strutted the catwalk with a look that can only be described as smoky, glitzy and 100 per cent glam. Might be a bit much for Friday night drinks but hey, we think it’s fab. ... more
