What to Look for in Facials

Spring has come and what better time to treat yourself to a facial. Spring is the season to detox your skin and take a fresh look at the products you’re using. Throw out really old products that are not working for you anymore, start a new regime or a course of facials and watch your skin bloom like the flowers.
Why a facial? Remember your skin is a living organ, it needs looking after like a baby growing up in stages. The celebs you see here on this website all have a facialist. See their skin – it’s glowing, clean, plump. It’s how you want your skin to look.
You know how you go to a dentist at least twice a year for professional advice and a good clean? Think of a facial like it’s a check-up for your skin. It’s needs to be deep cleansed, hydrated, maintained, and guided by an expert. Plus you get to feel like a princess for an hour.
As a celebrity facialist, I see treating people’s skin as an honour. I love to see the skin improve over time and reach its full potential. I also love the smile on my clients’ face’s as they leave.
So how do we go on about finding the right treatment, and what do we look for?
Products: This is important. Be sure to ask what products the salon is using. If you have a product line you’re keen to try, then this is the best way to experience it before investing in the whole skincare regime.
Therapist: Ask if the therapist has done treatments before and if they are qualified. Remember this is your face and body that’s the canvas. Once you find a therapist that you can happily trust, you’ll eventually create a bond, like your doctor.
Salon: Would you go to a dentist that had no ambiance, was uncomfortable, unfriendly and unhygienic? I wouldn’t. So look for a reputable salon with approachable staff, a quiet location and a soothing atmosphere. A sanctuary where you can go if you need to escape from your hectic schedule.
Relax: You’re having a treatment, so relax and enjoy it. It isn’t just a facial, it should be relaxing physically and mentally. Go on the weekend when you’re not thinking about work or uni exams or when you don’t care about your hair getting greasy before a hot date.
My Top Five Facials:
Organic/Natural Facials: Using organic and natural products. Great for sensitive skins, also for people who are avoiding chemicals while on a detox program.

Deep Cleansing Facials: These will usually include a professional grade exfoliation, extractions, and a purifying mask. Suitable for most skin types, especially oily or acne prone skin. Most salons will include a skin consult. This is great for beginners or for a first facial.

Spa/Relaxation/Aromatherapy Facials: If you love massage, spa facials are the way to go. These use aromatherapy products to treat and relax.

Hydrating Facials: All salon treatment menus would have this. Hydration is essential for all skins, even acne prone. Especially great after winter or after a long flight when you’re dehydrated. Exfoliation, serum infusion, massage and nourishing cream masks are used.

Full-On Results Facials: Usually your therapist will design a treatment plan. This can include a course of peels, Omnilux, Microdermabrasion, Laser, Intense Pulse Light and prescribed skincare to use at home in conjunction with treatments.
