Wed, 23 January 2013 4:16PM
Meet Isabelle Cornish…
You probably recognise her face (she starred in last year’s hit series, Puberty Blues, not to mention our recent gallery of Aussie It Girls). As well as her surname – her big sis is Hollywood-based actress Abbie.
With Isabelle set for international stardom, too, we were delighted to be able to catch up with her at a beauty launch yesterday – she’s the ambassador for the new Kérastase Cristalliste collection (out February; watch this space for our review!). Here’s how it went down …
PRIMPED: We’re at a Kérastase event, so let’s talk hair for starters … What products would we find in your shower?
Isabelle Cornish: At the moment my shower is full of Kérastase! I’m in love. The new Cristalliste collection is all about long, shiny and weightless hair and really works for me.
P: What’s your day-to-day go-to hairstyle?
IC: It’s normally out with a natural wave. I like to wash my hair and brush it, then I use leave-in treatment or a serum, followed by sea salt texture spray. I am loving the Cristalliste Lumière Liquide, $44, 1300 365 552, at the moment.
P: You must have worked with many hairstylists for shows and shoots – what are some great styling techniques you’ve picked up?
IC: That it’s all about products and how you use them. I have learned how to blow-dry my hair properly.
P: You must have also worked with some great makeup artists – what are your top makeup tips?
IC: To always moisturise before applying makeup. Also, where you don’t need to apply foundation, so that you look natural and fresh.
P: Do you have a signature makeup look?
IC: I dont really have a signature but day to day I like a clean, fresh-faced look with mascara, pink blush and bronzer. I also love to wear lipstick everyday!
P: What buys would we find if we peeked into your makeup bag?
IC: A crazy amount of Chanel lipsticks and lip glosses, some Chanel bronzer and foundation, and M.A.C powder.
P: You have to wear a lot of makeup for work – how do you keep your skin from freaking out?
IC: When I do shoots, there is definitely lots of makeup involved, and I find that eating well and drinking lots of water works best for me. But on regular days, when I’m not shooting, I like to keep my skin clean and try not to wear makeup. I love my Clarisonic, from $139, Myer, for a really-clean-skin feel.
P: What are your top skin buys?
IC: I love Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, $48, and Active Moist, $58, selected salons. Also, Chanel makeup. And I can’t go without my Clarisonic!
P: And body products?
IC: Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, $24.95, pharmacies, and M.A.C Face and Body Foundation, $60, M.A.C. I have found these are both great to use on your body; I apply them before events to even out skin tone on legs and arms.
P: Do you ever faux-tan?
IC: I do enjoy having a fake tan (a light natural glow only) but just for a special occasion or for a shoot. I don’t mind having my natural skin tone on a day-to-day basis.
P: What’s next on your beauty shopping list?
IC: I would like to buy a gel manicure set.
P: What’s your best beauty bargain?
IC: Indah Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, $15, Indah, to moisturise the skin. And Bio-Oil, $14.95, pharmacies, to treat scars.
P: Do you have any lifestyle tips you can share?
IC: I like to take vitamins daily and eat lots of vegetables. I find cutting sugar out of my diet has made me a lot happier and my body feels a lot cleaner. I love juicing and it is great for de-stressing. Also, joining group exercises or changing up your workout to stay exited and entertained.
P: Finally, what’s your favourite:
