Behind the brand
Like any clever business person, Roxanne Quimby and Burt Shavitz realised that they could make extra money from their honey business by producing candles on the side. So, in 1984 they attended their first craft fair and sold up a storm. By 1989, word had spread that these candles were pretty spectacular and hip New York boutique Zona ordered hundreds of them, allowing the dynamic duo to expand even further into natural soaps and perfumes. In 1991, they created their first lip balm and to this day, it’s still their best selling product. Twenty five years later, they’re still going strong, being heralded as the U.S.A’s second greenest brand and stocking their wares all over the world.
People and Faces
Not a celebrity in Hollywood isn’t a fan of Burt’s Bees products. It’s a cult classic that’s almost a right of passage into the beauty world. Sienna Miller and Jaime King have both raved about the brand.
