Liv Tyler and Reese Witherspoon give makeup the flick

Well, not entirely. But they both looked very fresh-faced when they stepped out for the MOCA Opening Reception For Dennis Hopper Double Standard event in LA over the weekend. And I am enjoying it, actually. It’s quite refreshing to see these stunning celebs attend an event where they know they will be photographed, but have still gone easy with the slap.

Let’s have a look at Liv Tyler first, simply because she’s one of my favourite actresses and that alone makes her deserving of this spot. Ha!

Doesn’t she look delightfully fresh, Primps? Yes, I know there’s not much colour in her face (she is a fair-skinned beauty after all), but I like it. It’s very daytime appropriate. Anything too full aka a bright purple smoky eye or bold red lip would be a little excessive. She just looks beautifully natural. And keeping her face fairly bare sure does make her eyes pop, huh?

She’s added a subtle raspberry gloss on the lips (try MAC Cremesheen Glass in Just Superb, $43.00 or Avon Glazewear Shine Lip Gloss in Mauve Movement, $16.99) and a few lashings of black mascara. But that’s pretty much it. She’s also gone for casual, softly textured hair, which is the perfect style for her baliage locks. And I know this isn’t a fashion blog, but damn, I love her jacket, too. Where’d you get it from, Liv?

And the second fresh-faced stunner to rock up to the event was the very pretty Reese Witherspoon:

Now Reese is wearing a wee bit more makeup than Liv (a subtle goldy bronze eye shadow and a soft pink gloss) but because she belongs to Team Blonde and has fairer skin, she needs a little extra help to prevent her from looking washed out. And how do you solve this problem? With a little bronzer of course. She’s swept some faux glow across her cheeks, and along her forehead and jaw line, too. It’s subtle but it works a treat.

So, Primps, who do you think pulled off this fresh-faced look best? I’m leaning towards Liv. But yes, Reese did put up a tough fight. I mean, would you look at what that eye shadow is doing for her eyes? It’s doing a lot, Primps. But there’s just something about Liv and her darker hair, delightful skin, softly stained lips and bright blue eyes. She looks fabulous.

But tell me what you think, Primps…

Do you like the fresh-faced look?
Or would you prefer to see a little more makeup on these ladies?
Who’s your fave? Liv or Reese?

I’m loving Reese, only because her look has taken about ten years off her face. She just looks so freakin’ young!

The only thing spoiling Reese’s look is her eyebrows. The pair of them need a hamburger or two for some fatness.

I always prefer the ‘natural’ (but secretly wearing makeup) look.
Although do they both look a little under eye dark circle-y? Maybe it’s just my computer screen.
And disagreeing with Liv’s jacket. It looks cartoon! It’s blinding me!

Liv looks beautiful, but I agree with ErinG below that they look a bit circly/puffy under the eyes. My eyes get puffy/circly like Liv’s do? Can we please have a post on how to fix/conceal them… please?
