Brushes don’t have to cost an arm and a leg, you know?

Recently, I’ve come across many questions about makeup brushes: what are the best makeup brushes to buy, how you clean them, and how to use them.
I’ve written a post on brush cleaning before, but I’m now going to share with you some of my personal experiences with makeup brushes.
With so many different types of brushes and brush sizes available on the market these days, I guess it is safe to think this: the more expensive it is, the better the quality will be. Some of my all time favourite luxury makeup brushes come from Bobbi Brown and shu uemura.
Bobbi Brown Basic Makeup Brush Kit, $300
This one doesn’t come cheap but it is one of the best investments one can possibly make. It provides flawless and seamless makeup application when done correctly and is perfect for everyday use. It contains all the brushes one would possibly need, and if cared for well, it’ll last a lifetime. No kidding.
shu uemura Makeup Brushes
When I was a teenager, I’d always pop by the shu uemura makeup store (they have an entire shop in the mall back in Malaysia) and vow that I’ll own every single makeup brushes from shu uemura even though I had absolutely no idea how to use them at that time, I just knew I wanted them all. For a kid like me, shu uemura was the stuff that dreams were made of; they are the brushes makeup artist swear by on the runway, on movie sets and by celebrities, too. No matter what type of eye blending or face brush you’re looking for, you’ll be sure to find what you need with shu uemura.
And to answer many of your concerns about having to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for makeup brushes, I’ve actually came across some serious good buys for a quarter of the price you’d pay for luxury brushes.
Ecotools 5 piece brush set, $27.95
These gems are great for the environment, unbelievably soft and their price is a steal. With Ecotools, you seriously don’t have to compromise quality with price. They also come in many other individual sizes for purchase, but I’d say go crazy because you won’t regret purchasing these. Fast becoming many beauty bloggers’ favourite, if you’re looking for affordable brushes, look no further these. They are amazing. And I know this because they did it for me.
Has anyone tried Ecotools?
