Classic Curls

Reese Dubya rarely puts a beauty foot wrong, don’t you think Primpers? Here’s pretty shot # 36, 578 of her at the Sydney premier of her new flick, Water For Elephants, where she decided to team bouncy, old-school curls and soft makeup with a laser-cut-looking dress for contrast.

RW looking mighty fine on the red carpet in Sydney…

Reece Witherspoon

  • For more bouncy, less beachy-looking waves, we suggest you take your Nan’s hot roller set for a spin. Rollers do a stellar job at distributing the heat evenly throughout each section for uniform waves. If rollers are out of the question, don’t stress! All you need to do is pin each section into a coil after tonging and leave it to set for ten minutes before spritzing with hairspray.
  • To keep the curls looking wispy and soft, you want to avoid overloading the hair with too much product. Blow-drying a curl-enhancing mousse into damp hair before you set the rollers is a must to give freshly-washed locks just the right amount of texture to keep the curl in place. Our vote goes to: Tigi BedHead Foxy Curls Extreme Curl Mousse, $27.95. For medium-sized curls like R’s, stick to 8-10 rollers, max.
  • Once you’re ready to let your hair down, gently release the curls by raking your fingers through each section before sealing the deal with a body-building spray, like Schwarzkopf Volume Styling Hairspray, $6.79, through from the roots to the ends.

Part B: Pulling Back

Now, for the pieces de resistance, the pulled back front section. Pinning the front layers back is clever for a number of reasons: 1) It’s great for fine hair, as it creates extra volume in at the roots where you need it the most, 2) The front layers are usually the first to drop, so pinning them back equals less touch-ups on the night, 3) It instantly frames the face to play up your eyes. To copy Reece’s style, gently tease the roots with a comb before securing the section with a couple of bobby pins and a hit of hairspray. Too easy!

Note: Part B is completely optional, but totally worth trying.

What do you think of Reese bringing back the old-school spring curl?

Are you a fan of her makeup?

Are you planning on seeing the movie?

I generally love Reeses’ looks and this is no exception including her soft makeup. I’m not sure if I’ll see the movie at the cinema but may wait until it comes out on DVD.

I like the curls but not the top part which is pulled back a bit severely. I may see the movie when it comes to DVD.

Reese looks good in any hairstyle. I love her new makup which adds to the full look. Most films that she has starred in are so entertaining and memorable. So I would like to see this one too.

I like the big bouncy curls. Her makeup looks great but she looks tired to me.

I adore this look – can someone please do this to my hair!!

  • Posted by: Coconal Master Fan // Tue, 10 May 2011 01:37pm

I don’t especially like either RPatz or RW, but the film looks intriguing enough that I might actually go see it.

I love Reese’s hair and makeup, but I do think she should’ve gone for more subtle eye makeup instead of such a heavy smoky eye…it sort of detracts a bit from the overall look in my opinion.

I love her hair and makeup. She always looks so great. Envious! Im unsure about her new movie. I will probably wait until it comes out on DVD before I see it.

love Reese’s whole look! she always looks amazing!! I bet she could wear a sack and no makeup and still look great!!!

  • Posted by: strawbsundae Master Fan // Tue, 10 May 2011 08:14pm

Reese has a heart shaped face, so I think that’s why this boufy and bouncy hair look suits her so well. I think she’s amazing and really love her style.

I saw the film and live feed from the red carpet, Reese looked terrific, apart from constant fiddling with her dress!
The film was better than expected, beautifully shot, and of course the real star was the elephant!

I am totally ready to see the movie -just for Reece’s hair and make up in it!

but not a fan of the pulled back front -she’s lucky she has such a small head and can pull it off, but not many people can (that should be taken into account before attempting the ‘do i think!)

I like the curls, not the pull back fringe. Won’t watch the film as I dislike R Patz. No offense….

I was at the Sydney premiere – and Reese looked AMAZEBALLS in person! Loved the outfit, hair, makeup, shoes – everything!

The movie is incredible! For those who have read the book, they’ve really kept close to the story with the movie. Not to mention it’s beautifully shot. Even if you haven’t read the book, it’s such a lovely film.

Oh, and Robert Pattinson is DIVINE, too!
