Elizabeth Olsen will inspire you to wear your hair in a top knot

Thu, 13 October 2011 1:43PM

SPOTTED: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s younger and extremely pretty sister, Elizabeth Olsen, wearing possibly the finest top knot I’ve seen in a couple hundred donkey years.

Elizabeth Olsen's Awesome Top Knot

YOUR REACTION: Wowzers, that is one super-stunning top knot. I wish to copy it this very second.

  • Start with day-old, somewhat dirty hair.
  • Spray your roots and hair line with dry shampoo to soak up any oil, as well as create a wee bit more texture. Just be sure to blend the product through your strands with your fingers. No one wants to look like they’re going grey prematurely.
  • Take all your hair and secure it in a ponytail with a hair tie right at the top of your head. Elizabeth Olsen’s top knot doesn’t feature a part, but you can put one in if you feel the need.
  • Then, to get a little more volume in your knot, gently tease your ponytail with a tail comb. Just don’t go overboard; we still want the knot to have a smooth-ish finish.
  • Take your entire ponytail and wrap it loosely around the base of the hair tie and secure with bobby pins.
  • Got some flyaways around your hair line? Spray some hairspray on your fingers, and then brush them over your strands. It’ll settle them real quick.

WHILE YOU’RE THERE, DO THIS TOO: Apply some berry lip gloss. Her lips look mighty fine in that hue, so why not match your beautiful ‘do with a glossy bold pout, too? Yeah, why not!

Has this image of Elizabeth Olsen and her top knot inspired the pants off you?
Are you going to wear your hair like this tomorrow?
And will you pop on some berry gloss while you’re there?

I love the topknot…sadly executing it doesn’t always work for me. This seems easy enough to follow that I might actually try it again!

Elizabeth Olsen looks so pretty in this photo.

I usually wear a top knot in very hot summer days. It’s much easier to do than a French Twist.

Elizabeth definitely got the looks in the Olsen family didn’t she? I’m not a massive fan of the top knot (it reminds me too much of my physical culture days… urgh), but I love the berry gloss!

I love this style – so easy to do and totally keeps my hair out of my face. I have been considering cutting my hair into a LOB – but think I’d miss this style too much!

This is my go to look when I can’t be bothered doing my hair, and I usually team it with a berry lipstain or a bold lippie of some kind to dress it up.
I definatley don’t look as amazing as Elizabeth though!

You know what is great for top knots… donuts. Do they have them in Oz? They’re like little mesh donut rings that you put over your ponytail, then wrap the hair over/around it to give a lovely full ponytail. Perfect for fine haired ladies like myself.

This is a terrific top knot style. Not too severe. I love using Spin Pins to secure mine rather than bobby pins. :)
