We all know that sunscreen is très important in our daily skincare routine. These days, sunscreens are so advanced and packed with all sorts of new technologies that it’s a little confusing to choose one that suits your needs. Today, I will be ranting about something that is very close to my heart and something that I rarely share with other people. Maybe some of you can relate. I had my first pimple at the tender age of 8. Strictly speaking, I had pretty bad skin, growing up with moderate to severe acne. Papules, pustules, cysts, nodules, acne scars, enlarged pores & blackheads were the constant foes I had to battle. Facial Cloth Masks (FCMs) are not uncommon in most parts of Asia because of their convenience, cooling effect from the hot weather and availability. FCMs in Australia, however, are quite a rare commodity. Hands up who knows what their acid mantel is? And no, it’s not an outer-galactic force field that Dr Spock has to navigate the Star Trek Enterprise through… Although it does sound rather Trekian, the acid mantel is actually the mixture of secretions (stuff like sebum and sweat) that sits on top of the outer layers of our skin. ... more

Recently, I went on a skin diet. Basically, it involves no makeup and bare skin for a period of time (for me, it was only makeup once a week) and to be honest the prospect of having no makeup on my skin is no longer a daunting thought because I am more confident with my bare skin than I have ever been. And of course, beautiful skin doesn’t appear overnight. I for one, have Zelens Skin Science to be thankful for.... more
