How to: Style neglected hair

Kate Asked: I have long, red, curly hair (think our Nicole before she magically woke up blonde) and have two kids under two. So basically get to wash my hair once every couple of weeks and never get to style it. In moments of rage I consider going Britney and shaving it all off, but considering I've never done anything but trim it since Year 11 (and I'm 36) that might be going a bit hard, even for me. So... what can I do with it? Can't have it flopping in my face daily - should I cut it? Continue to wear it in a nanna bun? What options are there other than glorious hairdresser created waves, which my hair hasn't seen for three years? Help!

Answer: With a stash of hairdressing awards styling his mantel and a devoted clientele rivalling Ashton’s Twitter followers (well, maybe not but you get the idea), Brad Ngata (AKA the Master of Mops) is one of the most influential hairdressers in the biz. A PRIMPED Pro and a genius with a G...more

How to: Choose a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner

Sari Asked: I haven’t tried a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner yet. Are they just as good and can you recommend any brands worth trying?

Answer: Well Sari, while a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner may be a brilliant time-saver, it really depends on your hair type. Primpers with normal, healthy hair will reap the benefits of a combined shampoo and conditioner. But those with oily locks might find the formula too greasy and girls ...more

How to: Disguise thinning hair

ludekens Asked: I'm due for a haircut which I've been putting off for ages because my hair is thinning. At 21, I find this quite distressing and it makes it impossible for me to look fashionable. Do you have any suggestions I can take to a hairdresser to disguise the thinning?

Answer: Oh ludekens, I feel your pain, really I do. We all want full, shiny, Gisele-like locks but for fine-haired friends like you and me, the trick is to fake it! The best way to replicate a thick mop is to keep your ‘do short. Short hairstyles are right on trend and frame your face, dive...more

How to: Get great balayage

Laura Asked: I’m absolutely loving balayage hair but the salons I’ve approached either haven’t embraced it or haven’t heard of it. Can you recommend a fantastic balayage hairdresser in Sydney?

Answer: Why yes Laura I can! The art of balayage is so hot I haven’t seen a hair craze like it since ‘The Rachel’ in the 90s. A smattering of celebs sport balayaged tresses including Erin Wasson, SJP and of course, Gisele. Balayage is a French technique hair gurus use to highlight the e...more
