Brooke Asked:
I’ve tried wearing my hair up in a sleek ballerina bun but I didn’t like the look. Can you suggest a style that is a little less perfect?
Answer:
Brooke, I’m not surprised you didn’t like the ballerina bun look; some people love the sleek, tight finish, while others find it a little too harsh.
The slightly messy updo from Cerruti’s A/W ’10 show is the perfect, but not too perfect, ‘do for you. It’s delicate and graceful, textured and soft, and a little bit romantic.
You can check out the front view up above, and here it is from the back:

Eugene Souleiman, Wella Professionals Global Creative Director, created this look which he described as "windswept romance”.
"I wanted to create a hair look to contrast against the richness of the luxe clothing, so I went for something ethereal, strong and romantic,” Eugene said. “Texture is the key component to this look and this tactile element keeps it modern. I wanted the girls to look windswept, as though they had just come in from the cold.”
Here’s how you create it, straight from the horses mouth:
Step 1: Apply Wella Professionals High Hair Crystal Styler, $23.00 to the roots of dry hair. Using a blow dryer, blow away from the face to create a little volume at the front.
Step 2: Spray Wella Professionals High Hair Ocean Sprizz, $23.00 into the front section of the hair to create texture. Then, using a diffuser attachment on your hairdryer, dry the product into the hair.
Step 3: Pull your hair back into a ponytail and position at mid level, but slightly off centre, and secure with a hair elastic.
Step 4: Loosen the hair with your fingers on the alternate side to the ponytail to create a little texture.
Step 5: Next, reach for the Wella Professionals High Hair Ocean Sprizz again and spray it onto the ponytail before drying with your diffuser.
Step 6: Then twist the ponytail into a knot and secure with hair pins, leaving out the tail end. Using your fingers, pick out small pieces of hair to create a more windswept feel.
Step 7: Finally, using a hairdryer, blow the hair upwards while misting it with Wella Professionals High Hair Finishing Spray, $21.50 at the same time.
