This book was on my xmas list! But I’m unsure whether to get this one, or the makeup book by Rae Morris...? Have you read that one by any chance?

Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual = all sorts of awesomeness
I recently had the luck of acquiring a new housemate who happens to be completing a course in make up artistry, and with her came all sorts of goodies :) Of everything though, I would absolutely recommend Bobbi Brown's Makeup Manual - I spent a whole Sunday reading it cover to cover and my wish list has doubled (...maybe not a good thing). I thought I knew a whole heap about make up and skincare, but the amount of info in this book is staggering.
It costs $60 and you can get it from her counters at DJs. (I promise I don't work for Bobbi Brown).

I have both and to be honest, I prefer the Rae Morris one. Rae’s tips work for me and both have conflicting information eg, Bobbi recommends applying eye cream before shadows, and using a pale coloured eye shadow for a base, whereas Rae advises against using an eye cream and creating a base with foundation and powder, and using alcohol free babywipes as a primer for the eye area (tried and tested. Best makeup tip I know).
The Bobbi Brown Manual has step by step procedures for every aspect of applying makeup with photos, and I really enjoyed the bits about artistry.
Rae Morris’s book has the best advice for creating the perfect base I’ve ever read, and great tips for purchasing brushes and makeup. I prefer her colour charts than the Bobbi Brown ones, and has step by step applications of false eyelashes. On the other hand, Bobbi Brown is much more thorough in makeup application, whereas Rae focuses on creating specific looks.
