OK, so I have a problem which is kinda embarrassing but you primpers seem like a pretty empathetic and clued-up bunch so I'd really value your ideas.
My problem is facial hair....ewww! I swear, if I don't pluck it out daily I'll end up with a full goatee (and with a husband and two kids, running off to join the circus isn't really an option)
I hate it and it leaves me with a permanently spotty chin as they are sometimes ingrown or the plucked folicle gets infected.
I know it's hormonal as the upper lip hair worsens just before my period. I've been to the GP and tested for PCOS but that's not the problem. He just said that my body is very sensitive to testosterone (or boy germs, as I like to call them) so even normal levels will bring on a reaction. He prescribed a form of the pill (Diane) but then I discovered I was preggers so haven't really been able to give that a go.
I'd like to try laser hair removal - have any of you had it done?
My only worry is that I'll have to let the hairs grow for it to be effective (my understanding is that the laser heats the hair shaft to a point where the follicle dies) I'm self-concious enough when I feel or see a stray hair while I'm out and can't imagine just letting them grow for a few weeks.
Anyway, now I've bared my soul to you, any advice/wisdom would be gratefully recieved.

Hi there,
I’ve never had laser but am seriously thinking about it - especially after seeing the results a friend has had. Who now swears by it.

And apparently it needs to be short - not long - so you should be ok.

I’d get yourself along to a clinic and find out.

I’m in the middle of laser - not literally - and forgot that I was supposed to let the hair grow, so I’d shaved under my arms 2 nights before, but the girl said it was fine. So maybe it won’t be such a big deal to just let it be for a few days?

It is fine to shave when you are having laser treatments.  Due to the hormonal issues, you will need to be treated regularly but you will find laser will reduce frequency of treatment.  Just make sure you only get treated on a medical grade laser.  Have a look at this link for more information on treatments.http://www.silklaser.com.au/services/laser-hair-removal-adelaide/

have you considered getting a referral to an endocrinologist to have your thyroid levels checked?
