These products are like summertime in a bottle

Summer holidays are right around the corner, and while some of you might be jetting off to fantastically tropical destinations, we’re well aware that most will be “stay-cationing” at home – which can be pretty depressing when your entire Instagram feed is just coconuts and palm trees from your friends. We covered tropical scents that’ll make you forget you’re stuck in the city – but there’s another, cheaper way to get your holiday kicks, too. Turn your entire house into a summer wonderland!
All jokes aside, using summer scented bathroom and home products through summer can really lift your mood. Where winter is best suited to rich scents like lavender, musk and patchouli, evoking that cuddly, bunk-down-for-the-cold-months feeling, adding a bit of coconut, fruit and ocean-inspired fragrance into simple routine things like your morning shower is an uplifting and cost-effective way to improve your summer. Here are our top picks!
John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo and Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner
John Frieda Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo, $15.99
This set might be called Beach Blonde, but these can be used on any hair colour – the title is a tie-in with John Frieda hero product, the Beach Blonde Ocean Waves spray, which was iconic in the 90’s for generating that effortless, blonde-beach-babe hair look. Cool Dip and Smooth Seas have a minty freshness to them that is so intoxicating – mint is an interesting one for summer scents, but once you try these you’ll see why they chose mint. It channels mojitos and other summery cocktails, making it just as perfect for use after a long, sun-drenched day.
philosophy Melon Daiquiri Shampoo, Shower Gel and Bubble Bath
Continuing with the alcohol theme, philosophy’s melon daiquiri multi-tasker gel is basically the fruity cocktail bottled, minus the rum. The best thing about these jumbo sized gels is they do everything – shampoo your hair, lather up as a shower gel, and create the sweetest, bubbliest bath ever. This is definitely one for watermelon fans – the scent is similar to the Jolly Rancher flavour we were obsessed with as kids.
Glasshouse Fragrances Montego Bay Coconut Lime Hand Wash
To be honest, we only knew Montego Bay from the Beach Boys ode to island paradises, ‘Kokomo’ – but the Carribbean capital city is everything tropical dreams are made of – sapphire blue water and whiter-than-white sand, present and accounted for. This hand wash is the perfect match for its name – coconut, lime and vanilla are what Carribbean beach days are made of.
endota spa organics Coffee and Coconut Resurfacing Polish
endota spa are all about the effect of scent on inner well being, and their spa experiences reflect that – so obviously their product line does too! This fantastic, creamy scrub uses coffee and coconut husk to slough off dead skin cells and prep your skin for a fake tan but it also smells unbelievable, thanks to the lime and mandarin oils, which team perfectly with the coffee and coconut. VERY Byron Bay.
Korres Santorini Shower Gel
Trust us when we say your $16 on this shower gel will be worth every scent. When they say ‘smells like Santorini’, they mean it.
SugarBaby Aloe Sailor Soothing and Moisturising Skin Cream
THE perfect moisturiser to nourish your skin after a whole lot of salt and sand time – and not just because it smells like a pina colada. This cream packs a hefty skin-loving punch for something priced at under $20 – there’s AHA’s for gentle exfoliation, Aloe Vera to moisturise and calm and Niacinamide to encourage even skin tone.
Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime Soap
For one, the packaging of this lush soap is gorgeous in and of itself – you’ll be tempted to never unwrap it and just have it as a beautiful display item. But opening it is worth it – the delicious lime and spice scent is beyond!
Ecoya Guava & Lychee Sorbet Candle
Who says candles are just for winter! If you want to fill your home with a delicious summer fruit scent, this is a surefire way to do it.
