My Top 5 Holiday Must -Haves

Well Primpers, I’m off. I wish I could say I’ll miss you but after a year of non-stop daily blogging, it’s pretty safe to say I won’t. Ha! Of course I’ll miss you, I’ll miss you heaps but I’m off to recharge my brain and come back more relaxed, revived and packed full of even more great beauty tips, like, How To: Not look sweaty in 40 degree heat, or How To: Look pretty. Even when you have a limit of 5 beauty products to take. Yup, that’s right, Primpers, I’m taking only 5 beauty products with me, a challenge considering I’m a beauty editor and tough fight for the potential suiters. However, I’ve made up my mind and here are the winning products that are coming to Asia with me for 3 whole weeks.

Here’s the deal I’ve made with myself (and my massively economically packed boyfriend). I will take only 10 items of clothing (not including undies) and 5 beauty products (not including staples) on our trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, which mind you, we leave for TODAY! So exciting. Oh, and by staples I mean B.O Lotion, Sunscreen, Shampoo and Toothpaste. A tough challenge for me, Primpers and honestly, my history proves that I am potentially the worlds greatest over-packer, so when I say challenge, I really mean HUGE, HUGE feat comparable to climbing Mt. Everbreast (or Everest, if you’re in a serious, at-work, non travelly mood). However, I am determined to reach the summit and with these 5 products, I’m pretty sure I can.

1) DRY SHAMPOO

Fudge Dry Shampoo, $16.95

When you’re traipsing around Angkor Wat, in 1 million per cent humidity and 50 degree heat, it’s pretty safe to say you’re going to get sweaty. With sweat comes dirty hair. But herein lies the problem, Primpers. When you’re on holidays the last thing you feel like doing is washing your hair everyday. Too busy exploring. So, that’s when this little puppet comes in and with one simple spritz, your hair is clean. Bingo!

2) TINTED MOISTURISER

HissyFit Saving Face Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30+, $55

When you’re strapped for space, it’s important to go for products that are multi-taskers. Clever. Small. Like tinted moisturisers for example, that somehow pack being a sunscreen, moisturiser and foundation all into one very small, travel friendly tube.

Now, I love tinted moisturisers for all these three reasons, but I also like it for those moments when your dude goes..."Bunny, why are you putting makeup on? We’re in Bangkok, on holiday and it’s 50 degrees outside.’ Now as a man, this probably seems like quite a fair comment, however, for us chicks, we know better than to be on holiday and not wear ANYTHING. Hello, photos. So, it’s then that we can reply..."Oh this? Oh no, it’s just sunscreen honey. I’m not wearing any makeup at all.” Or, you can just tell him to shut it and mind his own business, but that’s not really my style. See, win/win Primpers.

3) FACIAL CLEANSING WIPES

Simple Daily Radiance Cleansing Wipes, $9.95

Hokay, these are an absolute must have, Primpers. They’re great for those nights when you’ve had a few too many holiday drinkies or when you’re so bloody hot you don’t care that you’re wiping your tinted moisturiser off. Plus, if you get a little hot and sweaty under the ahem, pits, just give them a wipe down with these, too. Awesome.

4) ANTI-BACTERIAL HAND GEL

Dettol Healthy Touch Instant Hand Sanitizer

I’m still in discussions with myself about whether this counts as a ‘beauty product’ but I’m going to say yes, it is and add it in here. While it might dry your hands out a little, this stuff is the anti-venom to any germs that think they’re coming anywhere near me on holiday. Dream on, dreamers. I’m staying fit, healthy and massively on task and by applying this to my hands roughly every 2.5 minutes (kidding, 2.5 hours) I’m pretty sure I’ll keep my hands clean and germ free.

5) WATER-PROOF MASCARA

Clinique Lash Power™ Mascara Long-Wearing Formula, $36

The only thing I want to be worrying about on holiday is missing my morning beach yoga class or deciding whether papaya juice is tastier than pineapple. One thing I don’t want to be giving two shits about is panda eyes. So, that’s why I’m going to take along with me a massively long lasting mascara that I can wack on in the morning and glide off at night. No ruined photos, no swimming mishaps, no Alice Cooper as my boyfriend likes to call me. Just clean sailing all the way.

Well Primpers, that’s me. See you all in 3 weeks but in the meantime…

I just came back from a one month holiday in Singapore, Bali and Hong Kong and I definitely over packed. My two favourite makeup products are:
- Shiseido Majolica Majorca mascara and Shu Uemura drawing pencil—I got caught in more than one monsoon and these two products didn’t budge!

You’re going to love Vietnam Yaz, I was just there last year. Make sure you’re fastidious with the dettol though. My fave product for that trip (and all trips for that matter) was definitely bronzer. Didn’t go anywhere without it!

i have recently stocked up on similar products, and included Party Feet refreshing spray (after a whole day of sightseeing or night of partying!), and ear plugs for the plane and noisy snorers in hostels.
