Rachel McAdams looked breathtakingly gorgeous with her soft, voluminous updo at this year’s Oscars. The perfect style to team with her pastel water-coloured gown, it looked effortlessly chic. A modern take on the classic bun, it was all about delicate backcombing and a little bit of texture.

Hardworking products that make you hand over your $ faster than you can say “Giveittome”!! (Guest Blog)tag:,2010:/guest_blog/33.233532010-03-11T23:00:01Z2010-03-10T00:05:26Zcheriecherie@primped.com.auYou gotta admit, most beauty products are working harder these days to entice us to part with our hard earned money. Just to name a few, things like tinted moisturisers (sunscreen + moisturiser + makeup), anti-ageing foundations (skincare properties + foundation) and vibrating mascaras were all unheard of just a couple years ago.

Oscars How To: Maggie Gyllenhaal’s youthful, modern updo (Tips Tricks)tag:,2010:/tips_tricks/10.234172010-03-11T22:00:00Z2010-03-10T05:18:58Zcheriecherie@primped.com.au
Maggie Gyllenhaal certainly knows the face-lifting powers of an updo. Her modern Oscars updo was the perfect style to compliment her abstract blue dress and bright magenta lip. It’s fresh, a little voluminous, and with the twisted curls at the back, it's signature Maggie quirkiness at its best.

Oscars: Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz and Rachel McAdams EXACT lipstick shades revealed (Zoe's Blog)tag:,2010:/zoes_blog/5.234282010-03-11T02:01:00Z2010-03-11T04:24:28ZZoe Fosterzoe@primped.com.au
And it’s very serendipitous which type of lipstick they all wore because it’s the new Chanel Rouge Coco, which goes on sale Monday, and is, I think, (and at risk of copping wrath from die hard Rouge Allure fans) Chanel’s finest lipstick yet. The criteria for such a bold statement? It’s lightweight, comfortable, sheer but very buildable and the colours are REAL fresh and I believe a wonderful lipstick for those previously only interested in lip gloss. (The one downside is that some of the shades have a hint of frosty.) Plus, it looks rad when you pull it out of your handbag. Let’s be honest.

Makeup How To: Camilla Belle’s silver-lined, smoky eye (Tips Tricks)tag:,2010:/tips_tricks/10.234192010-03-10T23:00:01Z2010-03-10T05:18:46Zcheriecherie@primped.com.au
Camilla Belle is not new, but when she continues to look so darn amazing, we can’t help but comment. This time round it was her smoky eye that caught our attention. With subtle grey eye shadow, a defining rim of black eyeliner and a pop of silver-coloured liner on the lower lashes, she looked as stunning as ever.

For all my talk of bedhead hair and natural, nude makeup I LOVE a big wallop of eyeshadow and cheekbone and lips, teamed with a polished, smooth, swinging mop. Which is precisely what Chloe served up, in a big camel coat pocket.

It is the look they were going for after all. That’s right, Patty McGrath was at it again, working her makeup mastery for all to admire. Let’s take a look…

Up In The Air nominee Anna Kendrick went for a softly curled updo at this year’s Oscars. The effortlessly elegant hairstyle frames her pretty young face perfectly, allowing her beautiful skin to take centre stage. Working in with her hairs natural texture, this style also showed off her ridiculously shiny locks.

You know how you think of say, DITA VON TEESE and you can instantly imagine what her hair and makeup will be like? (FIlled-in, arched brows, winged liner, red lips, ebony ‘40s style waves), well, same thing is happening with Balmain, whose runway shows seem to always feature the same soft, gently-bedhead centre-parts and nude, healthy makeup. Yves Saint Laurent (or more accurately, their creative director, Val Garland) on the other hand, are having way too much fun with all that glorious makeup they create to settle for natural faces. Rightly so.
